The Poco F7 was launched globally in June 2025 as the base model in the Poco F7 series. While some might see it as just another successor to the F6, this phone is actually something special. It brings a massive battery, a flagship-lite chipset, proper cooling, IP68 water resistance, and 90W fast charging. It’s basically shouting: “Come for the price, stay for the power.”
So let’s break it down and see if this phone is really as good as it sounds—or if it’s just more Poco hype.

🧱 Build & Body
This is where Poco shocked everyone. You get a phone built with an aluminum frame and covered with a glass back. There is IP68 water protection certification. No jokes.
This isn’t some half-baked budget phone with plastic pretending to be glass. The Poco F7 feels just as good as a Galaxy S23 or a Pixel 8. There’s LiquidCool 4.0 with IceLoop inside, so even when gaming, the heat never got uncomfortable. It’s giving premium, and for once, the price tag agrees.
🔥 Performance
Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. Sounds new right? That’s because it is.
This SoC is based on the same architecture as the big boys—the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3—but tuned slightly lower for cost. That said, don’t be deceived by the “s” in the name. This chip clocks a wild 2,082,208 on AnTuTu, beating the Dimensity 8200, 8300, and 8400. It even matches the 8 Gen 2 in some tasks.
Everything is fluid. From gaming (CODM, PUBG, Genshin) to app launches and camera processing, the phone just flies. And thanks to UFS 4.1 + LPDDR5X, it’s not just fast—it’s instant.
You will not experience lag here unless you’re actively looking for it.
🧠 RAM Management
In theory, you should be able to open up to 15 apps in the background, including YouTube, Twitter (X), Instagram, and Chrome with multiple tabs. I came back 10 minutes later, and none had to reload. This is flagship level multitasking but on steroids.
12GB of LPDDR5X RAM + HyperOS memory optimization means you’re never starting from scratch. You’re always picking up right where you left off.
🔆 Display
Let’s not sugarcoat it: Poco wasn’t well known for its displays. But that changes here.
The Poco F7 sports a massive 6.83″ AMOLED panel with a 2772 × 1280p resolution. That’s 1.5K, not quite 2K but definitely sharper than 1080p. It’s a beautiful canvas—vivid colours, deep blacks, and up to 3200 nits of peak brightness. I had no trouble using it outdoors in bright sun, and indoors, it’s gentle on the eyes with DC dimming built-in.
It’s also 120Hz with 480Hz touch sampling, which means swipes are buttery smooth and gaming feels ultra-responsive. Whether you’re scrolling Instagram, watching Netflix in HDR10+, or playing Call of Duty, this display just slaps.
And unlike many budget AMOLED panels, this one supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and is Widevine L1 certified—so you can stream in full HD from apps like Netflix and Prime Video.
It may not be a 2K screen like the F7 Pro, but honestly? You won’t miss it. The display on the base Poco F7 is absolutely gorgeous for the price.
📸 Cameras
Let’s talk truth: Poco is not known for camera excellence. The F7 comes with a 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor with OIS, plus an 8MP ultrawide. Selfies are handled by a 20MP shooter.
Are they amazing? No. But they’re solid, and that’s a big win for Poco. Daylight shots are sharp, contrast is solid, and low-light performance has improved drastically compared to older models. The ultrawide is basic, but it works. The front camera? Good enough for Instagram and WhatsApp—nothing special.
The real surprise? 8K video support. Yep, 8K. It is there because the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 supports it. However, it is turned off by default so you’ll need GCam to unlock it, but it’s there. 4K is smooth, and 1080p 60fps is sharp and stable. No overheating during long recordings either. That IceLoop cooling does its job well.

🔋 Battery & Charging
The 6,500mAh battery (or 7,550mAh if you’re in India) is a BEAST.
One charge gets you through a day and a half of use, even with 120Hz turned on full-time. This isn’t one of those fake large batteries that die quickly—this one’s tuned for endurance.
And then there’s 90W fast charging. This thing charges from dead to full in just over 40 minutes, and yes, the 90W charger is included in the box. No penny-pinching here.
Bonus: It also does reverse wired charging at 22.5W. If you have earbuds or a second phone, you can charge them off the F7 like a powerbank. That’s just sick.
📶 Connectivity
- 5G support is solid and stable.
- Dual SIM standby with full bands.
- Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, IR blaster, X-axis vibration motor—it’s all there.
The only thing missing? eSIM on the global version. If you need it, look elsewhere.
📱 Software & Updates
The Poco F7 runs HyperOS 2 based on Android 15 out of the box. Xiaomi is promising 4 years of Android updates and 6 years of security patches, which is surprisingly good by their standards.
HyperOS itself feels snappier than MIUI, with better animations, less bloat, and smoother multitasking. There’s still a bit of adware on first boot, but you can disable most of it.
🧠 Extra Features
- Customizable UI with themes, icons, and fonts.
- “Special Features” in settings include performance modes, memory extension, and gesture navigation.
- Always-on Display is supported and pretty customizable.
It’s a software playground if you like tweaking.
💰 Price & Availability
Now to the part that makes or breaks it for many of us—price.
The Poco F7 launched globally with a starting price of around $339 (~₦495,000) for the 12GB + 256GB variant. If you’re importing into Nigeria, expect it to retail between ₦480,000 to ₦520,000, depending on the seller, shipping costs, and the current exchange rate drama.
There’s no 8GB RAM variant here. Poco went straight for the jugular with just 12GB LPDDR5X RAM, and it shows.
For what you’re getting—Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, 90W charger in the box, premium build, IP68, and massive battery—that price is an absolute bargain.
It easily undercuts phones like the Samsung A55, Nothing Phone 2a, and even some older flagships like the S21 Ultra or Mi 11 Ultra on Jiji. And it runs better than all of them in day-to-day use.
🏁 Verdict: The Best Budget Powerhouse of 2025
Poco F7 is not just a mid-ranger. It’s a statement.
It says: “You don’t have to spend $1,000 to get flagship-like performance, fast charging, and premium build.”
It’s got power, battery life, charging speed, and looks—without the bloated price tag. And in typical Poco fashion, it skips the fluff and gives you what matters.
If you don’t care about periscope cameras, wireless charging, or an in-display fingerprint sensor, the Poco F7 is a no-brainer.
🏆 TL;DR
Poco F7 is the best all-rounder for under ₦500K ($350) in 2025.
You get:
✅ Flagship-grade performance
✅ Beautiful AMOLED screen
✅ Immense battery and charging
✅ IP68 and premium build
✅ 8K-capable camera (via GCam)
✅ HyperOS + long-term updates
It’s the kind of phone that doesn’t just compete—it dominates.
The site is not longer monetized and I need to your help to keep it alive or it may not be here tomorrow.
