Itel A100C vs Poco C85 4G

Hello, let’s talk about Itel’s new releases. One of them is the Itel A100 and the other one is the Itel A100C. If you’ve seen the Itel City 100 then you’ve seen the Itel A100. They’re the same device. The Itel A100C on the other hand is the one that we’re going to be dissecting and to make it more interesting, I’m going to be comparing it against a new entry level device from Poco. This is the Itel A100C vs Poco C85

The Itel A100C is an entry level phone from the stable of Itel. It was announced in October of 2025 and it replaces the Itel A90 as Itel’s foremost entry-level device.

The Poco C85 4G is also an entry level device from Xiaomi. The Poco C85 4G is very similar to the Redmi 15C and it replaces the Poco C75 4G as Poco’s foremost entry-level phone.

Between these two entry level devices, which one should you be eyeing?

Body

Both phones as expected are made of plastic with a plastic frame and back. Whilst the Poco C85 4G boasts IP64 protection, it seems to be absent from the Itel A100C. However the Itel A100C boasts of drop resistance which the Poco C85 4G doesn’t have. To me tho, these are all gimmicks.

Display

The Itel A100C comes factory fitted with a 6.6″ 720p IPS-LCD running at 90Hz. It has a brightness of about 400nits. The Poco C85 4G on the other hand houses a much bigger 6.9″ 720p IPS-LCD running at 120Hz. It is also much brighter at 660nits.

Looking at these two displays, one might be inclined to give this to the Poco C85 4G but that 6.9″ screen size is a little bit too much for me and I’m sure that others might agree. Another thing to note is that the smaller Itel A100C display should have a slightly better ppi. In the end I’ll leave this as a draw and let you make up your mind.

Operating System

Both phones run on Android 15 but whilst the Poco C85 4G is running on HyperOS 2 (full Android version), the Itel A100C is running on Itel OS 15 (Go edition)

Performance

This is where both phones start to separate themselves. How so? Well it is rather straightforward.

The Itel A100C uses the Unisoc T7100 which on paper appears to be a new chip but in truth, it is a rebrand of a rebrand. The Unisoc T7100 is a rebranded Unisoc T603 which in itself is a repackaged Unisoc SC9863A. This SoC has an AnTuTu score of around 110k.

The Poco C85 4G doesn’t fare much better but at least, it’s got a MediaTek Helio G81 SoC at the helm. The Helio G81 is far superior to the Unisoc T7100 and scores around 200k+ on AnTuTu. This means that the gap in the performances of both phones would be massive.

Think about it, if people who are using the Helio G81 are complaining bitterly about its performance, imagine what the Unisoc T7100 is going to feel like. Take your time and really dwell on it. Even though the Poco C85 4G has the better performance here, I feel like it’s not too much to praise. Both phones will lag sooner rather than later. The Unisoc T7100 on the Itel A100C would definitely be the first to crash and burn. Point goes to the Poco C85 4G

Camera and Video

The Poco C85 4G is easily the much better device here as it has a better 50MP main camera and an 8MP selfie. The Itel A100C on the other hand has an 8MP main camera and a 5MP selfie.

Both phones record videos of 1080p@30fps but given the disparity in camera resolution, it is clear to see that the Poco C85 4G is far ahead.

Audio

Both phones use a single firing loudspeaker and still have room for the classic 3.5mm jack.

Comms and Features

Both phones support 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.4, WiFi 5, GPS and USB-C (2.0). The Itel A100C appears to have an IR blaster but lacks an NFC sensor. The Poco C85 4G on the other support NFC but lacks support for an IR blaster.

Both phones utilize a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security.

Battery

The Poco C85 4G wins here easily with a 6000mAh with 33W of fast charge and 10W of reverse wired charging. The Itel A100C on the other hand uses a 5,000mAh battery and 10W charge.

Price

For the price, I found out that the Itel A100C would probably be selling for around 94,000 Naira for the 4/128GB whilst the Poco C85 4G sells for around 140k (6/128).

Points Tally

So let’s tally:

  • Body – Draw
  • Display – Draw
  • OS – Draw
  • Performance – Poco C85 4G
  • Camera/Video – Poco C85 4G
  • Audio – Draw
  • Comms/features – Draw
  • Battery – Poco C85 4G
  • Price – Depends

I cannot recommend the Itel A100C at all. Even the Poco C85 4G is a very hard sell with its Helio G85 4G much less the A100C with its Unisoc T7100.
