CPU

The Snapdragon 685 features a big.LITTLE combination of four high-performance Cortex-A73 cores (2.8GHz) and four battery-efficient Cortex-A53 cores (1.9GHz). On the other hand, the Unisoc T7250 uses two Cortex-A75 cores (1.8GHz) and six Cortex-A55 cores (1.6GHz). Despite using the weaker Cortex A73 and A53 CPUs, the Snapdragon 685’s higher clock speeds and core configuration offers better performance for multitasking and demanding applications. While both CPUs are capable of handling everyday tasks, the Snapdragon 685 is the better performer.

GPU graphics and games

The Adreno 610 GPU in the Snapdragon 685 offers a reliable performance that is suitable for low end casual gaming and media consumption. The same thing can also be said of the Mali-G57 MP1 GPU on the Unisoc T7250. However, whilst the both of them are competent, they may not deliver the same level of graphics performance, especially in more demanding scenarios. Thus the Adreno 610 should take the win.

Benchmarks

Benchmark scores indicates that our analysis is right because the Snapdragon 685 does outperforms the Unisoc T7250. With an AnTuTu score of around 349,000 and GeekBench 6 scores of 473 (single-core) and 1510 (multi-core), the Snapdragon 685 beats out the Unisoc T7250’s scores of around 263,000 on AnTuTu and 441 (single-core) and 1454 (multi-core) on GeekBench 6.

RAM/Storage Support

Both processors do support LPDDR4X RAM, but the Snapdragon 685 supports faster RAM speeds at 2133MHz compared to the T7250’s 1866MHz. In terms of storage, however, both processors are tied as they both offer support for  UFS 2.2, which offers l faster data transfer rates than eMMC.

Display

Both processors also offer support for both 1080p and 720p displays. However, whilst they can both support 720p@120Hz displays, the Snapdragon 685 can support 1080p@120Hz but the Unisoc T7250 cannot.

Camera/Video

While the Unisoc T7250 supports camera resolutions up to 108MP, the Snapdragon 685 supports up to 64MP. This looks like an easy point to give to the Unisoc T7250 until you remember that image processing is lot more important. In this regard, the Snapdragon 685’s Spectra 346 ISP and Hexagon DSP 686 provide advanced image processing capabilities over the Unisoc T7250, which enhances its overall camera performance. In video recording, the T7250 supports 1080p at 60fps, whereas the Snapdragon 685 supports 1080p at 30fps.

Comms

Both processors support 4G LTE connectivity, with the Snapdragon 685 utilizing the Snapdragon X11 LTE modem. For Bluetooth support, both SoCs support Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), ensuring stable wireless connectivity.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Snapdragon 685 is the more robust and efficient processor compared to the Unisoc T7250. It enjoys a superior CPU and GPU performance, faster RAM support, and advanced image/video processing capabilities which makes it a better choice for users looking for a decent  smartphone experience. The Unisoc T7250 on the other hand isn’t far behind either and also offers commendable features for entry-level devices.

Overall, the Snapdragon 685 provides a more balanced and future-proof solution in the budget smartphone segment.
