Hello guys, I recently made the switch from my long-serving Redmi Note 9 Pro to a Poco F5. As a result, I have gotten a lot of questions about the differences between Redmi and Poco. So in this article, we’re going to be looking at their history, what they do, and the differences between them. This is Redmi Vs. Poco.

Redmi vs. Poco Origins

Xiaomi is a tech company that is headquartered in China. It is a relatively young company as it was founded in 2010. Xiaomi started by developing smartphone software (MIUI) before deciding to venture off into hardware. This led to the creation of two additional brands – Redmi and Poco.

Redmi

Redmi, introduced in 2013, began as a budget smartphone line and later evolved into covering entry-level, mid-range, and flagship killer categories.

The phones from Redmi are divided into:

  • Entry level
  • Mid-range
    • Redmi Note
    • Redmi Note S
    • Redmi Note Pro
  • Flagship Killer
    • Redmi K series

These phones aim to offer value for money with a balanced approach to performance, cameras, display, and battery life.

In 2019, Redmi became so successful that it was split from Xiaomi, the main company. It became a separate brand, but it still belongs to Xiaomi and follows its instructions.

Poco

Spurred by Redmi’s success, Xiaomi created Poco in 2018 to cater to tech-savvy users seeking high performance at affordable prices. Poco phones prioritize SoC performance over other aspects, making them ideal for gamers and other heavy users.

The Poco F1, launched in 2018, drew inspiration from Formula 1 cars and became a global hit. Poco phones offer value for money, emphasizing performance while placing other features secondary.

So the Poco line has several phones. These are:

  • Entry level and Budget
    • Poco C series
  • Lower Midrange
    • Poco M series
  • Upper Midrange
    • Poco X series
  • Flagship Killer
    • Poco F series

Poco split from Xiaomi in 2020, forming two separate independent companies – Poco India and Poco Global. Xiaomi still owns shares in Poco, but the extent of its involvement in the new companies remains unclear.

Redmi vs. Poco Decision-making

Choosing between Redmi and Poco boils down to personal preferences. If you seek a well-rounded experience with good cameras, performance, display, and battery life, go for Redmi. If high performance is your top priority, and you can compromise on other aspects, Poco might be your go-to.

MIUI Differentiation and Global Availability

Redmi phones run on MIUI, Xiaomi’s software found on their flagships. Poco features MIUI for Poco (Poco UI), a modified version catering to Poco phones. Redmi phones are readily available worldwide, while Poco phones still face regional restrictions, although independent sellers are breaking down these barriers.

The Ultimate Question: Redmi Vs. Poco, Which One is Best?

I can’t answer that because everyone is different. Even though a lot of Redmi phones are very similar to their Poco counterparts, Redmi’s insistence on offering a well-rounded package is more appealing to some customers whilst Poco’s focus on performance may tick the box for others. There’s no single rule here. You have to choose what you think is the best option for you.

So please use this information to answer not just for yourself but to help others seeking such information.
