Tecno Spark 10C and Spark 10 Pro are the latest darlings of the midrange market and Tecno has gone to town telling everyone about these phones.

The Spark series is a lineup from Tecno that offers a wide range of budget to lower midrange smartphones and the Tecno Spark 10C and Spark 10 Pro do not deviate from this mission.

The Tecno Spark 10C as the C implies is a budget device. The Tecno Spark 10 Pro on the other hand is a lower midranger so in a way, that Pro tag has not been earned.

With that being said, let us look at the spec of these two phones and see why I feel that the Tecno Spark 10 Pro has not done enough to earn the Pro tag.

The Tecno Spark 10C is the younger sibling here. It is powered by a Unisoc T606. The T606 is a budget SoC which has around the same performance as the Exynos 850. It should run most of your apps, tasks, as well as social media and run (32-bit) games at low settings.

It has a dual 16MP + QVGA camera set-up for photos and videos. The output is only usable if photos are shot in good lighting. For your viewing pleasure, there’s a 6.5″ HD+ LCD display. This display is not the best but it is good enough. The battery is 5,000mAh with a normal charge of 10W and can take up to 2 hours plus to top up from zero.

Overall, it’s a budget phone. What you pay for is what you get. The Tecno Spark 10C sells for ₦76,900.00 (4+128GB) and ₦87,500.00 (8+128GB). It is rather overpriced considering the fact that I can get a better Helio G85 phone for around ₦85,500.00 but it is what it is. This one is a hard pass for me.

Tecno Spark 10 Pro

  • SoC: MediaTek Helio G88
  • GPU: Mali G52 MC2
  • RAM: LPDDR4x (8GB)
  • Software: Android 13, HiOS 12.6
  • Storage: eMMC 5.1 (128GB)
  • microSD: yes
  • Display: 6.8″ IPS-LCD, 1080p, 395ppi
  • Camera: 50MP + unspecified
  • Selfie: 32MP
  • Video: 1080p@30fps
  • Battery: 5000mAh (18W charge)
  • Network: LTE Cat. 7
  • Bluetooth 5
  • WiFi 5
  • Prices: ₦104,500.00 (8+128GB)

The Tecno Spark 10 Pro is the “Pro” device here and comes with lower midrange specs. For starters, the phone looks iPhone-esque with a flat glass back and nice curved edges. In other words, it is an iPhone lookalike.

It is powered by a MediaTek Helio G88. The Helio G88 is a lower midranger SoC that can rub shoulders with the likes of Unisoc T618 and Snapdragon 680 in terms of performance. However when it comes to photography, videography and network connectivity, the G88 has a lot of ground to make up. There’s more than enough RAM and storage here to go round. In fact, this to me is a storage-centric phone so multitasking and storage won’t be an issue.

For photos and videos, there’s a 50MP main camera onboard with two other unspecified cameras. The images are decent and the colour reproduction is passable in good lighting. It has a 6.8″ FHD+ IPS-LCD display. This display is also capable of a 90Hz refresh rate. The battery is 5,000mAh with a charge speed of 18W max.

The specs here are all lower midrange. The pro tag is usually reserved for upper-midrangers.

The Tecno Spark 10 Pro is available and sells for ₦104,500.00 (8+128GB) and ₦118,900.00 (8+256GB). This device is a very decent lower midranger phone with more than enough storage space to save stuff as well as RAM for multitasking. The price is a bit steep but it’s okay.
