After several stop-starts, Samsung has finally announced the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S22 series.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 series is the successor to last year’s S21 series as well as the Note series. The S22 Ultra also doubles as a Note as it comes with a Stylus. This could be a move to placate fans of the now-discontinued Note series.

The S22 series is going to be not only the Samsung flagship of the year but also the answer to Apple’s iPhone 13 series and Xiaomi’s 12 series. There are three phones in this lineup. They are the S22 5G, S22+ 5G, and the S22 Ultra 5G.

As usual, the S22 series is divided into regions based on the SoC used. This year, Europe is going to get the Exynos 2200 (AMD Xclipse) variant while the rest of the world get the Snapdragon Gen 8 (Adreno 730). Again, as it has been in the last few years, the Snapdragon variant is going to be more powerful.

Anyway, let’s take a look at the other specs.

Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22+

The Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22+ are the same device with two exceptions. The S22+ has a bigger display and a bigger battery as well as a faster charge speed.

With that being said, both phones are made of armored Aluminum and are covered with Gorilla Glass Victus. The S22+ is the heavier of the two.

Both phones would use either the Exynos 2200 (Europe) or Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (rest of the world), both of which are top-of-the-line. They also both use the same LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 memory.

Their displays are Dynamic AMOLED panels with FHD+ resolutions. The main camera is a 50MP Samsung GN1 along with a 12MP ultrawide and a 10MP telephoto camera. Both phones can record video at resolutions of 8K@24fps.

The battery on the S22 is 3,700mAh which is rather small. It supports a 25W fast charge speed. The S22+ has a much bigger 4,500mAh battery and can charge faster at 45W speed.

The pricing for the S22 starts at $799.99 while the S22+ starts at $999.99.
