The Redmi Note 10 Pro (Pro Max in India) is the premium poster boy of the all new Redmi Note 10 series. This device is called the Voyager by the company because it is travelling into regions that midrangers were not expected to go.
This phone has so many premium flagship features on board, that you may wonder if the company were sleeping when this device was being made.
If you want to see what all the hype is about, well lets take a plunge in and examine the specs.
Body
The Redmi Note 10 Pro like most midrangers is built with a plastic frame. The internals of the phone is sandwiched in between two sheets of Gorilla glass 5. The phone feels quite heavy at 193g. It has an IP53 rating for splash (water) and dust protection. There is also a plastic case in the box too should you need it for extra protection.

Display
The display is a 6.67” Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, a pixel density of 395ppi and 1200 nit of max brightness. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling. The display is protected by a Gorilla Glass 5. HDR10 for high definition streaming is also supported. But there is no Widevine support so you cannot stream HD content from Netflix.
SoC/Software/Performance
The RN10 Pro is powered by the all new Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G processor which is paired with an Adreno 618 GPU. The SD732G is an upper midrange SoC which is an improvement on both the Snapdragon 730G and 720G. It is an Octa core SoC with two Kryo 470 Gold (Cortex A76) cores running at 2.3GHz for the heavy tasks and six Kryo 470 Silver (Cortex A55) cores clocked at 1.8GHz for the light day to day apps. On Geekbench 5.1, this SoC has a performance of 569 (single core) and 1812 (Multi core). On Antutu v8, it has a score of 291,795. Name the task and this phone rises to the challenge.
The phone ships with MIUI 12 based on Android 11. Some persons have complained about MIUI 12 being a heavy UI but this author thinks that MIUI is one of the best Android UIs out there that boasts a lot of useful features. Some of which are not found on stock Android. This device is also guaranteed at least one full Android update and two years of updates.
Memory
The RAM variant used here is a LPDDR4x RAM so multitasking and app switching should not be a problem. The Internal storage module is a UFS 2.2. If you chose to expand your memory, there is also a dedicated SD card slot which can accept SD cards as high as 512GB.
Cameras
This device also comes with a quad camera setup. The 108MP Samsung S5KHM2 main camera is the selling point of this device. This is the first time we’re going to be seeing a flagship grade camera dropping into the midrange segment. The other cameras are an 8MP (Sony IMX 582 Exmor) Ultrawide angle, a 2MP (Galaxy Core GCO2M1) macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor. The main camera shoots videos in resolutions of 4K (@30fps), 1080p (@60fps), 1080p (@30fps) and 720p (@60fps). The Selfie camera is an 13MP (Sony IMX 471 Ultrawide) camera which takes decent photos and shoots videos of 1080p (@30fps).
The RN10 Pro also supports Gyro-Electronic Image Stabilization (Gyro-EIS). This should help eliminate camera shakes and resultant blurs in photos and videos.
Battery
The battery is a huge 5020mAh and it supports 30W fast charging. There is a 33W charger in the box to help you take advantage of the phone’s fast charging capabilities. This phone can charge up to 50% in 25 mins (0 – 100% in 74 mins).
Connectivity/Sensors
This device is 4G LTE enabled and supports Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 20, 28 (a & b), 38, 40 and 41. It also supports Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6 out of the box.
There is a side-mounted fingerprint for security which is rather strange considering that it has an AMOLED display. But after the debacle that was the Realme 8 Pro in-display fingerprint scanner, I think we can understand why Xiaomi stuck with the side-mounted FP scanner.
We can also find proximity sensors, ambient light sensor, accelerometer, compass, gyroscope and a notification LED. Finally, there is a USB-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Price and Availability
The 6/64GB variant sells for $279 (N116,000), the 6/128GB sells for $299 (N126,500) while the 8/128GB sells at $329 (N135,000).
