If you haven’t heard yet, Xiaomi has quietly dropped a new entry into the Note series—the Redmi Note 14S. And when I say “quietly,” I mean very quietly. No loud launch, no big reveal, just a sneaky little addition to their already cluttered lineup.
But if you know Xiaomi, this won’t surprise you. Every year, they serve us a three-course meal:
- A base Redmi Note,
- A Redmi Note S,
- And a Pro version.
So when I saw the Redmi Note 14S pop up, I wasn’t shocked. But what did surprise me was the sheer pointlessness of this release—especially in a world where 4G-only phones should be on their way out.
So I decided to dig a little deeper. And what I found had me raising an eyebrow.
It’s Giving… Copy and Paste?
After going through the spec sheet of the Redmi Note 14S and comparing it side-by-side with both the Redmi Note 14 and 14 Pro (4G), a switch flipped in my head. Something about it felt very familiar.
So I headed straight to GSMArena and did a side by side comparison between the Redmi Note 14S and the Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G.
Boom. There it was. They’re the exact same phone. Same screen, same camera, same battery, same chipset—everything.
Except for one thing: The Redmi Note 14S comes with IP64 water and dust resistance. That’s it. That’s the entire update. Don’t believe me? Check the side-by-side comparison yourself:

So What’s the Point?
Honestly? I’m not sure.
Xiaomi seems to be repackaging the same phone under a new name just to pad the lineup. Maybe it’s a marketing tactic. Maybe it’s a way to keep the Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G alive without calling it that. Or maybe they just had some spare 13 Pro parts lying around and thought, “Why not?”
Whatever the reason, it’s hard to see the Redmi Note 14S as anything more than a rebranded old device with a slight tweak. If you already have the 13 Pro 4G, there’s zero reason to upgrade. If you don’t, maybe you could get this for the IP rating—but that’s about it.
Final Thoughts
Xiaomi has done this before, and they’ll likely do it again. So don’t be surprised. Just be informed.
If you’re eyeing the Redmi Note 14S, just know: it’s basically the Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G wearing a raincoat.
Simple as that.
