Hi guys, I want to talk about Ubisoft’s latest release—Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown on Android. As someone who’s a big fan of platformers, I was genuinely excited when Ubisoft announced the mobile port. I’d already seen the gameplay on YouTube, and it looked amazing, so knowing it was coming to Android got me hyped.
I’ve been a fan of Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia mobile games since the good old days of Nokia’s Java and Symbian phones. Back then, playing Warrior Within or Two Thrones on a small screen was peak mobile gaming. So you can imagine how thrilled I was to see the franchise return—this time with a much more modern twist.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is a 2.5D action-adventure platformer where you play as Sargon, a warrior of the Immortals, on a quest to rescue the kidnapped Prince Ghassan. The game is set in a mythological version of Persia, packed with fast-paced combat, parkour, and time-based powers. It has the feel of a classic Metroidvania game with lots of exploration, tight platforming, and visually stunning environments. Think classic Prince of Persia, but remixed with modern mechanics, flashier combos, and really smooth animations.

So when I heard that the game was coming to Android, of course, I rushed to pre-register. When it finally dropped, it took up 2GB of my data to download. Totally worth it—or so I thought. The graphics are beautiful, and I have to say, the prologue played really well. For a game that’s been optimized for mobile, it felt surprisingly smooth and brought back a lot of nostalgia.
Is it worth it?
But then came the twist. After the prologue, the game hits you with a paywall—₦14,900 or about $10 to unlock the full game. Oof. Not what I was expecting, especially after burning 2GB just to install it. And here’s the kicker: playing it without a controller isn’t the smoothest experience. The touchscreen controls don’t do justice to the game’s fast, combo-heavy combat.
Now, if you’re like me and not too eager to cough up ₦15k for a mobile game, especially one that doesn’t give you the full experience upfront, I’d say skip it and save your data. Ubisoft really should’ve made this a premium game from the start on the Play Store—pay once, download, and play. That would’ve made things clearer and more respectful of users’ data plans.
Conclusion
That said, if you’re a hardcore gamer and you’ve got the cash to spend, then I honestly recommend it. It’s one of the best-looking and most polished platformers on mobile right now. It even ran smoothly on my Itel P55 5G device with a Dimensity 6080 chip, but I’d advise checking if your phone can handle it before downloading.
In the end, I’m happy that developers decided to put a game like Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown on Android. I just wish it was a little friendlier to the average gamer’s pocket.
