Xiaomi has announced the Xiaomi 12 lineup as the yearly flagship refresh to their flagship line. In the recent past, this line of phones used to be known as the MI line but now it has been rebranded to the Xiaomi line.
This move by Xiaomi is designed to give the company name more recognition in the global market. Thus the Xiaomi 12 lineup is here to replace last year’s MI 11 lineup.

The Xiaomi 12 lineup is made up of three phones currently. These are the Xiaomi 12X, the Xiaomi 12, and the Xiaomi 12 Pro. The Xiaomi 12x can be considered to be a flagship killer while the other two are affordable flagships. There is going to be an expected 4th phone, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra around late March/early April 2022.

Xiaomi 12x
The Xiaomi 12x is the cheapest phone in this line up but do not let that fool you. It is a highly capable device. Its Snapdragon 870 with its Adreno 650 GPU is more than a match for many phones around today. It has a 6.28″ AMOLED display supplied by Hauxing and HiRes stereo speakers for a fully immersive audio experience.
There is a triple camera setup on board headlined by a 50MP Sony IMX766 main sensor. The other two are a 13MP ultrawide and a 5MP macro camera. There is a full array of network and connectivity sensors on board and the entire device is powered with a 4500mAh battery with 67W fast charge.
Xiaomi 12
The Xiaomi 12 is the vanilla device in this lineup. You can also think of it as the middle sibling. It is a true flagship-grade device. It packs the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC with its Adreno 730 GPU. This is cutting-edge technology. It has a 6.28″ Samsung AMOLED display as well as HiRes stereo speakers to completely immerse you in whatever you are viewing.
This device packs a triple camera setup headlined by a 50MP Sony IMX766 main sensor. The other two are a 13MP ultrawide and a 5MP macro camera. There is a full array of network and connectivity sensors on board and the entire device is powered with a 4500mAh battery with 67W fast charge, 50W wireless charge, and 10W reverse charge.
Xiaomi 12 Pro
This would bring us to the best device in the Xiaomi 12 lineup, the creme de la creme. The Xiaomi 12 Pro. The Xiaomi 12 Pro is the most expensive phone in this lineup.
To be fair, it is the same phone as the Xiaomi 12 but it comes with several enhancements.
The first is that it has a better 6.73″ AMOLED display supplied by Samsung as well as HiRes stereo speakers for a fully immersive audio experience.
Secondly, it has a better camera setup on board with a 50MP Sony IMX707 main sensor, a 50MP Samsung JN1 ultrawide, and a 50MP JN1 telephoto camera all of which are top-notch.
Finally, it has a slightly better 4600mAh battery with 120W fast charge, 50W wireless charge, and 10W reverse charge.

Pricing
During the launch, the Xiaomi exec made it very clear that these Xiaomi phones are direct competitors to the iPhone 13 series and for good measure. As if that’s not enough, these phones are also way cheaper. The Xiaomi 12x starts at 3199 Yuan (269k NGN/$649), the Xiaomi 12 at 3699 Yuan (311k NGN/$749), and the Xiaomi 12 pro at 4699 Yuan (499k NGN/$999).
