Body and Remote
The TCL 55″ C655 4K Smart TV is a very good-looking TV. TCL has gone for a slim, bezel-less design with a sleek metal chin at the bottom.
It’s made mostly from plastic but doesn’t feel cheap or flimsy. It looks premium enough to fit beautifully in your living room.

The remote is also worth mentioning. It’s a modern Bluetooth remote, featuring direct buttons for Netflix, YouTube, and other streaming services. Voice control through Google Assistant is onboard as well.
Software and Processor
Running the show on the TCL 55″ C655 is Google TV, layered with TCL’s custom TV skin. This brings an intuitive, user-friendly experience, stuffed full of streaming apps and smart features.
Under the hood, the AIPQ Processor Pro (which is basically a souped-up MediaTek chip) keeps things smooth.
Browsing through menus, launching apps, and switching inputs is fast, with minimal lag. Software updates are also available, ensuring the TV stays fresh for a while.

Picture Quality
Now this is where the TCL 55″ C655 starts flexing. Thanks to its QLED tech, the TV produces rich, vibrant colors.
It covers about 95% of the DCI-P3 color space, which means more accurate and vivid visuals for movies and games.
4K content looks decent on it. HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support add another layer of polish, making bright scenes pop and dark scenes retain good details.
However, being a VA LCD panel, it struggles with true blacks — so if you’re watching in a very dark room, you might notice some greyness where OLEDs would show perfect blacks. But overall, for the price, the picture quality is a huge win.
Audio Quality
The audio on the TCL C655 is handled by two speakers (10W and 15W) tuned by Onkyo.S ound is loud, clear, and immersive thanks to Dolby Atmos and DTS techs.
However, don’t expect ground-shaking bass. If you’re a serious movie buff or gamer, pairing this TV with a soundbar or home theatre system will take your experience to the next level.
Gaming
Gamers, take note. The TCL 55″ C655 comes ready for action with Game Master 2.0 and a 120Hz VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) through a software-enabled Dual Line Gate (DLG) technology.
While the panel is natively 60Hz, VRR helps make gameplay smoother and reduces screen tearing when gaming on consoles like the Sony PS5, Xbox Series S/X, or even older consoles like the PS3.
There’s automatic low latency mode (ALLM) baked in, meaning the TV will switch to game mode automatically when you fire up your console.
Connectivity/Ports
This TV is loaded with enough ports and wireless tech to keep you happy.
- 3x HDMI ports (one of which is HDMI 2.1 for next-gen consoles). From my review, it’s actually 2.0b as it does not support RGB output at 4K or even 120Hz at 4K as well.
- Bluetooth 5.0 for connecting wireless headsets and speakers
- WiFi 5 for internet connectivity
- USB ports for media playback
- Ethernet port for wired internet
- Optical audio out for external sound systems
- Miracast support for wireless screen sharing from your phone or laptop
TCL made sure you won’t be struggling with how to connect your devices.
Prices
As of now, the TCL 55″ C655 retails in Nigeria between ₦580,000 and ₦750,000, depending on the size you want and on the store and location. I bought mine for ₦599,150 from SIMS Nigeria.
In other markets like Kenya or South Africa, prices are similar when adjusted for exchange rates.
For the specs you’re getting (QLED, 4K, Dolby Vision, Google TV, HDMI 2.0b), this TV punches well above its weight class.
Summary
The TCL 55″ C655 is a fantastic mid-range 4K TV that offers premium features without burning a hole in your wallet.
You get beautiful 4K QLED picture quality, good gaming features, modern software, and decent audio — all packed into a stylish body.
Of course, it has its compromises (like LCD blacks not being as deep as OLED and bass needing a soundbar), but honestly, for this price, it’s hard to beat.
***
TL;DR:
If you’re looking for a stunning 55″ TV that’s ready for movies, sports, Netflix binges, and gaming without needing to take out a loan, the TCL 55″ C655 is absolutely worth it.
