Itel A60 full specs review

Itel Nigeria have partnered with Airtel to release the new Itel A60.

For those who do not know, Itel is a subsidiary of tech giants Transsion. Itel mostly releases phones for the low end, entry level market. As a result, their phones are very low spec and cheap.

Airtel is one of the biggest internet service providers in the world and in Africa. However, they’re quickly falling behind their competition and this partnership could be a strategy to gaining some ground.

If you buy this phone, Airtel will give you 5GB of internet data for N1,000. This will run for about 6 months before it elapses. This offer should come automatically but if it doesn’t, you should SMS “Get” to 141.

Before we proceed, it is important to note that the Itel A60 is no exception to Itel’s track record of releases. It is an entry level phone.

Performance

The performance here is very poor as this SoC only has four (quad) ARM Cortex A53 CPU cores clocked at 1.4GHz. In 2017 this was okay, but in 2023, it’s not good enough for anything besides calls, SMS, light social media apps and games.

If you buy this looking to play games, I’m afraid to tell you that you would be very disappointed. This won’t run the full Facebook or Instagram app much less games.

Cameras

There are 2 cameras (8MP + QVGA) on the back and a 5MP selfie on the front. These cameras would only give passable output in the presence of adequate light. Anything less is a waste of time.

It can also shoot HD (720p) videos at 30fps but just like with the photos, they’re only usable when shot in decent light.

Display

The display is a 6.6″ 720p display which is decent enough for indoor viewing but terrible outdoors in bright sunlight.

Battery

There’s a huge 5000mAh battery here to power this device which should give about 8 hours of use with data on, give or take. The kicker here is that this battery only supports 10W of charging speed and this means that it’ll take 2 hours plus to top it up.

Network and Connectivity

This phone supports 2G, 3G and 4G LTE connections but the 4G LTE connection is capped at Cat.4 which is slow. The Bluetooth version here is 4.3 and the WiFi is version 4.

Prices

This phone retails at ₦45,000.00 (around $100) for the 2/32GB variant.

Conclusion

This is an entry level device that is good enough for calls, SMS, light social media apps and games. It is also good as a second phone. If you’re buying this device, do keep this in mind. Cheers.
