The lower mid-range market is no longer what it used to be. There was a time when companies went to war here, trying to outdo each other to give us the best. Now this area just gathers dust. It is in this era that we discuss the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 vs Dimensity 6080.
The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 is a lower mid-range SoC from Qualcomm that is aimed at affordable phones. Whilst a lot of creators or industry insiders have referred to it as a budget or even entry level chip. It can boast of lower mid-range performance.
It was announced in August of 2024 and has gone on to receive a lot of mixed reactions. You can find it on the Redmi A4 5G and the Poco C75 5G.
The Dimensity 6080 on the other hand is much older (being announced in 2023) and a lot more popular. It’s essentially a slightly faster Helio G99 with a 5G modem.
You can find it on a lot of phones such as the Itel P55 5G, Redmi Note 13 5G, Tecno Pova 6 Pro, Honor 200, Poco X6 Neo, Tecno Spark 20 Pro 5G, Infinix Note 30 5G and several others.
Its affordability and performance have made it a darling of many smartphone OEMs.

🖥️ CPU Performance
This is one of those tricky comparisons that you’ve gotta pay a lot of attention to. Why? Because if you go with face value, you might miss a few things. Here’s why I said so.
The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 ships with an octa core set up of 2 Cortex A78 CPUs (2.0GHz) and 6 Cortex A55 CPUs (1.8GHz). The Dimensity 6080 also uses an octa core setup with 2 (weaker but faster) Cortex A76 CPUs (2.4GHz) and 6 Cortex A55 CPUs (2.0GHz).
Generally speaking, if we pit the 2 Cortex A78 CPUs @2.0GHz (4s Gen 2) against 2 Cortex A76 CPUs @2.4GHz (Dimensity 6080), the A78 CPUs should win by a slight margin. However, there are 6 more Cortex A55 CPUs on both sides and the Dimensity 6080 has the faster ones. This would then swing the tie in favour of the Dimensity 6080 for MultiCore tests.
So when it comes to tasks that are designed to run on only one CPU (single threaded tasks), the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 will win. However if it needs several CPU cores (multi threaded tasks), the Dimensity 6080 should take the lead.
Verdict: Draw
🎮 GPU Graphics and Gaming
The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 was severely let down (in my book) by the use of the Adreno 611 which is basically the Adreno 610 in disguise. The Dimensity 6080 on the other hand uses a much more capable Mali G57 MP2 which is on par with the Adreno 618.
When it comes to handling games like eFootball mobile, CoDM, PUBG, Free Fire, Dream league etc. Both would do okay at mid settings but the Dimensity 6080 would do it easier with less struggle, compared to the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2.
Verdict: Dimensity 6080
💾 RAM/Storage
Both processors support LPDDR4X RAM running at 2133MHz and UFS 2.2. The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 also enjoys support for UFS 3.1 but I doubt if anyone would be putting UFS 3.1 on a budget or lower-midrange device.
Verdict: This one’s a draw as well, slight advantage to the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2
📊 Benchmarks
On GeekBench 6, the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 beats the Dimensity 6080 in single core performance (825 to 771) but loses in multi core performance (1869 to 2077). On AnTuTu 10, the Dimensity 6080 walks away with the overall win (428k to 377k).
The Dimensity 6080 emerges as the slightly better performer overall because it has the faster small cores and the better GPU. However, this doesn’t really mean in real life use as both SoCs would perform pretty much around the same level.
📹 Cameras/video
The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 for some reason only supports up to 84MP cameras whilst the Dimensity 6080 can comfortably handle 108MP cameras. The story is also the same for video. Whilst both SoCs can do 1080p video at 60fps, the Dimensity 6080 can do 1440p at 24fps.
Both processors have decent ISPs and NPUs to help them process images.
📺 Display support:
The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 can support up to 1200p displays whilst the Dimensity 6080 maxes out at 1080p displays.
📶 Connectivity
Both SoCs are 5G capable and use 5G modems. They also both support 4G LTE (Cat. 18), Bluetooth 5.1 and WiFi 5. However when it comes to download speeds, the Dimensity 6080 can do up to 2.77Gbps whilst the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 can only do 1Gbps.
📝 Summary
So let’s tally.
- CPU Performance – Tie
- GPU graphics/gaming – 6080
- RAM – Tie
- Storage – 4s Gen 2
- Cameras – 6080
- Video – 6080
- Display – 4s Gen 2
- Connectivity – 6080
Conclusion
The Dimensity 6080 more than holds its own against what should have been a better chip on paper. Both SoCs did alright, but they’re not upper mid-range SoCs so tamper your expectations when you get them. They’ll tackle most tasks fairly and won’t lag or slow down unnecessarily.
