Infinix Zero 20 and Infinix Zero Ultra

Infinix has updated its Zero flagship line for the year 2022 by announcing two phones. These are the Infinix Zero 20 and Infinix Zero Ultra.

Infinix has consistently been improving on its “flagship” offering. From the Infinix Zero 6 powered by the Snapdragon 636 to the Zero 8 powered by the Helio G90T, all the way up to the Zero X Pro and now the Zero Ultra. Yes, they have come a long way.

Both the Infinix Zero 20 and Zero Ultra have set some new smartphone records. The Zero 20 is the first smartphone to use a 60MP selfie camera whilst the Zero Ultra is the first device to sport a 180W fast charge technology. It is also among the pioneers of the 200MP craze along with Motorola Edge and Xiaomi 12T Pro.

Now let’s look at both phones in more detail.

Infinix Zero 20

The Infinix Zero 20 is the younger sibling of the Zero Ultra. The Zero 20 is an upper Midrange device that is designed for vloggers. It has a 60MP selfie that can record videos at QHD.

For performance, it houses the new MediaTek Helio G99 which is a solid upper Midrange SoC. The software on board is Infinix’s XoS 12 running on Android 12.

There’s a 6.7″ FHD+ AMOLED display on board and the whole device is powered by a 4,500mAh battery which supports 45W fast charge.

Now MediaTek is not well known for its image processing prowess but this phone should be able to deliver good shots and videos, both from the front and back cameras.

The proposed price is also quite decent considering the specs of this device. The Zero 20 can rub shoulders with most midrangers out there.

Infinix Zero

Infinix Zero Ultra

The Infinix Zero Ultra is the premier device of this lineup and as always, it will be the cynosure of all eyes.

It comes with a very impressive Dimensity 920 SoC with a powerful Mali G68 MC4. It is important to note that the Dimensity 920 only supports cameras up to 108MP.

Why is this important? Well, that’s because there’s a 200MP Samsung HP1 camera on board. Both Motorola and Xiaomi who use this sensor have the right SoCs to support it. Infinix as usual is cutting corners again.

There’s a 6.7″ FHD+ AMOLED display on board and the whole device is powered by a 4,500mAh battery which supports 180W fast charge. Infinix claims that this device can charge from zero to 100% in 12 minutes. That’s very impressive.

The Infinix Zero Ultra is a very impressive premium midrange device but it’s not flagship grade. Not yet. Also note that the Dimensity 920 is a powerful SoC but image performance is not its forte and it doesn’t support 200MP cameras.

Regardless, that 180W Thunder Charge of theirs is impressive and is something to look out for.

The pricing however is not something to look out for. Yes, I know the Thunder charge is impressive but over 300k Naira for what is essentially a midranger is overpricing.
